Long Way North

Long Way North is set in the late-19th-century Saint Petersburg. Sacha, a young girl from the Russian aristocracy has always been fascinated by the exciting life of her grandfather, Oloukine, a renowned scientist and Arctic explorer who has yet to return from his latest expedition to conquer the North Pole. But Sacha’s parents, who have already made arrangements for her marriage, strongly disapprove of her fascination, to say the least. Defying her parents’ wishes, Sacha flees her home and launches an adventure-filled quest toward the Great North in search of Oloukine and his ship.

Our Review:

I love when movies have a female heroine because it shows young girls that they too can be strong in life. Sacha, is a strong willed young girl who has a need for adventure and this movie gives just that!

It is heartwarming and exciting to watch. Your whole family will enjoy this movie together. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this movie as much as we did but I would give it 5 stars.

My favorite movie as a child was The Wizard of Oz. I waited all year for it to come on. It was equal parts exciting, scary and enchanting.
