Here’s how:

1. Sign up using this link

2. Earn 300 SB total before 3/1/17. You’ll get a $3 (300 SB) bonus for it!

3. If you spend at least $25 through Swagbucks Shop* you’ll get another $2 (200 SB) bonus on top of the cash back you’ll get from shopping. If you have some shopping to do online, just go to Swagbucks first and visit the store through them. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, but you’ll get SB points for every dollar you spend (on top of the bonus)!

That’s it. It’s super easy, and Swagbucks is for real. I use it myself, and I’ve earned thousands of Swagbucs and I use them for gift cards to shop more! *You must receive your shopping SB before April 1st

Frugal Valentine’s Day Ideas for Couples

Valentine’s Day means spending the day with a special someone. It doesn’t mean you have to break the bank in order to enjoy some time with them and celebrate your relationship.

Simple ideas can make your day perfect.

There have been many years that my husband and I stayed in and just enjoyed the day together. Especially when the kids were younger. It wasn’t easy to find a sitter for Valentine’s Day so we usually just made dinner and watched a movie together.

Here are some frugal ideas for Valentine’s Day:

Make a coupon booklet for someone special. Add your own ideas to the book. (ie. Foot Rub, Night off from Cooking, Date Night Your Choice etc. ) You can find a free template from 247moms.com to use when you are making your coupon booklet. (If you don’t want to make your own from scratch.)

Instead of going out, make dinner and surprise your special someone with a romantic dinner by candle light. (Bonus points if you make your special someone’s favourite meal. )

Valentine's Day Dinner

If you have Netflix, watch the movie of your first date if it is on there or pick a movie you both want to see. Grab some snacks, cuddle and enjoy the movie together.

Netflix for Valentine's Day

Make a collage of photos of you as a couple. Add any ticket stubs or brochures to places you have been together. Maybe even add stuff from where you went on your first date. Give it to your special someone to hang up.

Have a firepit in the backyard? Bundle up, grab some wine, start a fire. Enjoy each other’s company under the stairs while you talk and laugh. Don’t like to drink? Make hot chocolate for both of you to enjoy.

Spending time at a fire.

Stick Love Notes all over the house where your special someone would find them. Because my husband is a trucker and on the road often. I like to stick notes into his gym bag, so that he see them when he needs to get clothes out for himself.

If you have the children with you on Valentine’s Day, you can make it special with them. Have heart shaped foods (Pizzas, eggs, cupcakes and more), play some board games together and then settle down with some snacks and with a kid friendly movie on Netflix. (or pop a movie into the DVD player.)

Low Sodium Cheesy Potato Soup Recipe

I am trying to stick to healthier meals for myself and my family. So I am trying to make more of my meals from scratch and getting back to the basics of cooking. It is so easy to pour a can of soup and heat it up but this way we can enjoy a meal without all the extra sodium that we don’t need.

Low Sodium Cheesy Potato Soup Recipe #Recipe #Soup #Meals

This Low Sodium Cheesy Potato Soup recipe is great to make up right now while the vegetables are in season so it cuts down your cost and you can make a big batch of it to enjoy over the winter months. During the winter, I make up this recipe when the vegetables it calls for goes on sale and then freeze it so we have it available.

It is also a great recipe for those that need to cut down their sodium in their diet. I still use this even though since the transplant I don’t have to cut down my sodium but I choose to cut it down for my family.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped, or 2 teaspoon onion powder (I left onion out because I dont like onions with potatoes)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6-8 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 4 cups low sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (If you use mild or marble you will want to double up on the amount)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized pot, place a couple of drops of olive oil with onion, and garlic. Cook until browning.. Add the potatoes, carrots, basil, parsley and broth.
  2. Bring to a rolling boil. Reduce heat to medium low. Simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Combine milk and flour in a blender. Blend until smooth Gradually pour the mixture into the soup, stirring constantly.
  3. Cook and stir until soup is thickened and starting to boil. Add cheeses and continue cooking until cheese is melted (another minute or so). Add salt and pepper to taste. Ladle into bowls and sprinkle with additional cheese if desired.
  4. Note: Don't cook the potatoes too long or they will get too soft for the soup. Add chives and cheese if you want.
  5. This can also be frozen for freezer meals.

Keeping A Long Distance Marriage Alive

Keeping a Long Distance Marriage Alive

My husband is a truck driver and he is gone through the week. Usually that means that I will see him for his required time off and then he is back on the road again.

A part of me sometimes is jealous of those that have spouses that are home at night and they are able to see each other every day. We haven’t had that in almost a decade and we have been together for 17 years, so this has been a way of life for us for a long time. We have learned ways to keep our relationship going strong.

Before he became a truck driver, my husband worked out of town. And I use to feel a pain of jealousy for those that could see him daily. It was silly to feel jealous but it happens when you don’t see them daily. These people saw him often and I only got to see him on weekends, so it was hard. It is one of the reasons why we changed how we did things, and learned to make the most out of the moments that we had together.

Here are ways for keeping a long distance marriage alive. I call it a long distance marriage even though he does come home at the end of the week because he is gone more than he is home.
