Today I decided to go on a hunt online to find 5 SIMPLE Slow Cooker recipes.

Simple for me means little prep time and few ingredients needed.

These 5 Slow Cooker recipes will make suppertime an easy chore and something the whole family will love to try!

Grilled Cheese & Bacon on a Pillsbury Crescent Roll Recipe

 

 

 

The other night I was trying to decide what to make for supper. I didn’t feel like a big meal but didn’t want take-out either. Then I decided on Grilled Cheese and Bacon but thought why not use the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls I have in the fridge waiting to be used.

So I made this very simple recipe and the kids loved it! I think I might change it up next time and add some tomatoes into it as well. A side salad went really well with this recipe. Below is the recipe but feel free to make it your own by adding what you like or try experimenting with different cheeses or meats.

Grilled Cheese & Bacon on a Pillsbury Crescent Roll Recipe

A simple meal for nights you don’t have time to cook or don’t want Take-Out
Ingredients
  • 6 pieces of Low Sodium Bacon cut in half to make 12 pieces
  • 1 tube of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  • 1 340g bar of Cheddar Cheese
Instructions
  1. Cook bacon in frying pan until the texture you like.
  2. Shred cheddar cheese while bacon is cooking.
  3. When bacon is done set it on a paper towel on a plate to get rid of bacon grease
  4. Set oven to 375oF
  5. On a baking sheet roll out the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  6. put one or two pieces of bacon in the rolled out Pillsbury Crescent Roll & sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Roll the roll over. I also tucked the sides so the cheese wouldn’t ooze out.
  8. Do it for all the Crescent Rolls.
  9. Put in oven when the oven is at the required temp.
  10. Cook for 10-15 minutes until Crescent Rolls are golden brown.
  11. Serve with a side salad or some fries.
  12. Enjoy!

This simple stuffing recipe is so easy and tastes great! You can use it by putting it in the turkey before it cooks or as a side dish from the stove!

Low Sodium Stuffing Recipe
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2 cups of celery (chopped)
  • 1 loaf of day old bread chopped up in cubes
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1-2 cups of chicken broth (I use low sodium broth but any chicken broth is fine)
  • crushed sage to taste (lightly sprinkle)
  • crushed parsley to taste (lightly sprinkle)
  • crushed tyme to taste (lightly sprinkle)
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. On a cookie sheet at 300 degrees F I place the cubes of bread in the oven for about 10 mins to dry them out. (if you have a toaster oven you can do it in there too. ) If you use corn bread no need to place it in the oven.
  2. In large sauce pan place butter and celery and onion. Sauté until soft. Mix in bread cubes and egg and enough chicken broth to moisten. (you do not have to use the full amount listed above. Just use until bread is moist)
  3. Add sage, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper. Stir well. Stuffing should be moist not dry. (you can also add walnuts or pecans or mushrooms to this recipe)
  4. Once done place directly into turkey if you are stuffing it. Do not let it cool.

  • 2 cans of Whole Kernel Corn (15 oz each)
  • 3 Potatoes (peeled and cut into 1/2″ pieces)
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 2 cups of Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1/4 cup Butter
Instructions
  1. Place corn, potatoes, onion and broth in 4 quart or larger crock pot.
  2. Stir , cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours.
  3. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Puree half the batch in a blender then return puree mixture to the chowder.
  5. Stir in milk and butter. Cover and cook for 1 more hour.
  6. Garnish with chives if desired.

  1. Slice kielbasa 1/3 inch thick
  2. place slices in crockpot
  3. In a bowl mix cola and bottle of bbq sauce together
  4. Pour mixture over kielbasa
  5. Cook on low for 2.5 hours

Pizza Stuffed Potatoes

 

 

 

This is a GREAT kid-friendly recipe. 

Also very easy to make if you don’t feel like doing a big supper night.

Pizza Stuffed Potatoes 

 

Ingredients:

4 medium  potatoes

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup very finely chopped vegetables of your choice.

a handful of pepperoni slices, sliced thin and then chopped

1/2 cup pizza sauce (or more, depending on your preference)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Poke holes in potatoes with a fork and bake for about 40-45 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Once cool, slice around the inside of the potato and scoop out the flesh, be careful not to poke holes in the bottom (it’s okay if you do – it happens!). Put scooped potatoes in a bowl and mix with 1/2 cup mozzarella and 2 tablespoons each of peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni. Mix well. Scoop mixture back into potatoes and spoon pizza sauce over top. Add more toppings and cheese. Bake for 10-15 more minutes.

 

 

Raspberry Peppercorn Tenderloin Recipe

Ingredients:

1lb Pork Tenderloin

3Tbsp (50mL) Raspberry Jam

1Tbsp (15mL) Coarsely Cracked Pink Peppercorns (or black pepper)

 

Directions:

Place raspberry jam and tenderloin in a sealable plastic bag for 30 mins or overnight.

Place peppercorns on a large dinner plate.

Remove the tenderloin from the bag and roll onto the peppered plate. Roll and massage the peppercorns into the tenderloin

Pre-heat barbecue to high heat and reduce to medium-high just before grilling.

Cook tenderloin for 5 minutes until all sides are done for a total of 15-20 minutes (or until internal temps reach 155 oF)

Remove from heat, let it rest under tinfoil for 5 mins to allow internal temp rise to 160 oF.

Slice and serve with desired side dishes.
