17 Uses For Coca-Cola

 Cleaning with Coca-Cola #DIY #Cleaners

The great thing about a product like Coca-Cola is that many of us either have it in our homes or can purchase it for great price. Coca-Cola has so many uses beyond drinking that it is great to have handy in your home.

Here is a list below on many uses for your home.

  1. Removes rust and loosens rusty bolts.
  2. Cleans oil stains from garage floors. Just pour cola on and then rinse.
  3. Kills slugs and snails. The acid kills them.
  4. Cleans burnt pans. Let pan soak in cola and then rinse them.
  5. Descales a kettle. Same method as burnt pans.
  6. Removes blood stains from fabric and clothing.
  7. Clean car battery terminals by pouring a small amount of cola over each one.
  8. Makes pennies shine. Soaking old pennies in cola will remove tarnish.
  9. Cleans tile grout. Pour on kitchen floor and then mop it up.
  10. Removes gum from hair.  Dip hair in a bowl of cola and leave for a few minutes.
  11. Removes stains from china.
  12. Remove or fade dye from hair by pouring diet Cola over it.
  13. Remove marker stains from the carpet.  Pour cola over it and scrub. And then clean with soapy water.
  14. Cleans your toilets. Pour around bowl. Leave and then flush.
  15. Cola and Aluminum foil will bring chrome to a shine.
  16. Strips paint off of metal furniture. Soak a towel in cola and leave it on paint surface.
  17. Make better compost; Coke increases the acidity, adds sugars and feeds microorganisms.

What other ways can you clean with Cola?

Greener Ways To Kill Mold In Your Home #Ecofriendly

mold

3 Easy ways to get rid of mold in your home

The products are usually items that you may already have in your home that will kill the mold or mildew

Each have pros and cons but they kill the mold naturally and there are no need for harsh chemicals

Tea Tree Spray

2 teaspoons tea tree oil

2 cups water

Combine in a spray bottle, shake to blend, and spray on problem areas. Do not rinse. Makes about 2 cups, lasts indefinitely.

**Note: Tea tree oil has a strong smell. So you may want to allow the area to air out after spraying it. Tea tree oil isn’t cheap but it is well worth using.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

20 drops grapefruit seed extract

2 cups water

Combine in a spray bottle, shake to blend, and spray on problem areas. Do not rinse. Makes about 2 cups, lasts indefinitely.

**Note: It is odorless unlike Tea tree oil.

vinegar

Vinegar Spray

Pour some white distilled vinegar straight into a spray bottle, spray on the moldy area, and let set without rinsing if you can put up with the smell. It will dissipate in a few hours. If you don’t like the smell of vinegar, you can add essential oils for a more mellow scent.

Kiss Naturals #DIY Lip Balm Kit Review & #Sponsored Giveaway

As everyone knows, children get bored during summer holidays.

This year in our area, weather has been so weird. The weather is cooler than normal, so that makes it a little hard to do normal summer stuff like swimming. I decided it was a perfect time to sit down at night and do the Kiss Natural’s All Natural DIY Lip Balm kit!

So Hayley and I sat at the table and pulled everything out.

The instructions were on the inside of the box but we decided to watch the “How To” video on the laptop instead.

We had the video and did the steps as they did them. It was really easy!  Hayley did them all by herself with no trouble at all.

 kissnaturals

There were 2 fragrance oils with the DIY kit. (Boysonberry flavour and Bubble Gum flavour)

Hayley and I did one lip balm of each flavour. Then we decided with the 3rd part of the shea butter we would do plain. The shea butter was such a nice smell. So we made up a batch of that. We ended up with all the left over shea butter having enough to make 2 plain ones.

We let our creation set overnight.kiss2

There were materials left over that we have enough to make more in the future.

I really enjoyed this kit and am ordering some for my nieces for the Christmas season!

Kiss Naturals is a Canadian business with ALL  natural products with no dyes, fillers or additives. (Their box is also eco-friendly!)

Eco-Friendly Tips ~ Get Rid of Bugs!

While the summer season brings bonfires, swimming time, camping and more, it also brings bugs!

The main thing I hate about summer is the creepy crawlies that seem to come out.

Ants, flies, moths, you name it, I HATE IT!

We have a big problem with ants this year in our house. So I went on a hunt on finding a eco-friendly solution to get rid of these bugs!

bugs

Here are a few ways to repel or get rid of  bugs.

Flies/Moths/Silverfish:

To repel flies, moths or silverfish, add a few drops of citronella essential oil and lavender essential oil on cloth strips along windows or inside cupboards.

Also to repel flies you can hang bags of water at your doorways.  Their eyes are sensitive to light refraction and the bags of water makes them want to turn away. (Note** Some people find putting a penny or tin foil in the water helps too.)

Avoid using moth balls for moths as they are known to have a chemical that can cause some cancers.

Instead use cedar chips for clothing.

Ants/Dust Mites/Fleas/Cockroaches:

Purchase a product called Diatomaceous Earth. Sprinkle it along baseboards and in cupboards.  It will damage the outer protective shell of these creepy crawlies and when that happens they dry up and die.

It is a much better solution than borax.  CLICK HERE  to find out more about Diatomaceous Earth

You can purchase Diatomaceous Earth at most garden and hardware stores.

I hope these tips help you with getting rid of your bug problems.

Non-Toxic Weed Killer

[sam id=”12″ codes=”true”]

Non-Toxic Weed Killer Recipe

A great recipe that has no long term affects on your soil, inexpensive , non-toxic and fast acting!

What You Will Need:

1 1/2 litres of Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 c table salt
1/2 tsp Dawn liquid dish soap

dandelion [sam id=”11″ codes=”true”]

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle.

Spray weeds thoroughly.

For best results, use on a sunny, dry day.

Vinegar will kill any vegetation that it comes into contact with, so avoid using it around plants that you wish to keep

A teaspoon of dish soap can be added to the vinegar to help it stick to the weeds

Some weeds are persistent, and may need to be treated more than once.

How To Get Rid Of Fruit Flies

Fruit Flies are always an annoying part of Summer.

I found this was a easier way to get rid of them.

fruit flies

What You Need:

  • glass or cup

  • Rubber Band

  • Plastic Baggie (like a sandwich bag)

  • Scissors

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

Directions:

  1. Pour about an inch of Apple Cider Vinegar in the glass.

  2. Then place baggie over glass and at the middle of the glass snip a hole. (Big enough for them to get in but not big enough for them to escape.)

  3. Use a rubber band to secure it on the glass.

  4. Place glass in an area that has a lot of fruit flies.

Also to prevent fruit flies try these tips:

  • Dispose of any rotting fruit & vegetables

  • Empty and clean recycling cans

  • Take any compost scraps outside

  • Replace old sponges , mops or dishrags

  • Check potato and onion bins (check if soft)

  • Fix slow drains.

  • Give kitchen a through scrubbing. (Use Spring Cleaning guide to help!)

  • Also try keeping sinks clean of organic matter.
