Long Way North

Long Way North is set in the late-19th-century Saint Petersburg. Sacha, a young girl from the Russian aristocracy has always been fascinated by the exciting life of her grandfather, Oloukine, a renowned scientist and Arctic explorer who has yet to return from his latest expedition to conquer the North Pole. But Sacha’s parents, who have already made arrangements for her marriage, strongly disapprove of her fascination, to say the least. Defying her parents’ wishes, Sacha flees her home and launches an adventure-filled quest toward the Great North in search of Oloukine and his ship.

Candy Race Car – Great for Kids Parties

It is hard coming up with something for a classroom treat for holidays or for a child’s party. My son, Spencer loves taking something for his friends at school.

This treat isn’t healthy but it is easy to make and your kids will love it!

Candy Race Car- Great for Kids Parties

First you will need a glue gun, glue sticks (both I purchased at the dollar store.), mini Hershey chocolate bars, Tootsie rolls, chocolate coins and juice boxes.

You can also change it up. If you want instead of Tootsie Rolls, try a chocolate that is small like one to use for the front fender. You can choose a different small chocolate bar too. The sky is the limit on how you design yours.  Choose a juice box that is your child’s favourite.

I found mints in a wrapper didn’t give the same effect as a chocolate coin did for the wheel look. And the Hershey chocolate bar did look like it was a wing with the side flaps of the package.

Candy Race Car- Great for Kids Parties

Figure out how many cars that you wish to make and decide on the amount of items you need.  For one car you need one Hershey chocolate bar, one Tootsie roll , four chocolate coins and one juice box.

Just put a dab of glue on each coin and apply it to the juice box sides. Then put glue on the Tootsie roll and place it where the front of the car is located. Lastly put glue on the bottom of the Hershey chocolate bar and place it on the top back area of the race car.

It is that simple. And your kids will love the race cars for themselves and their friends!

Let me know if you make this for your child’s class or birthday parties in the comments below. I love hearing about how the kids enjoyed them.

Adventures in Babysitting

Adventures in Babysitting

Adventures In Babysitting || Feature Running Time: Approx. 94 minutes || Starring: Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson || Disney DVD

Adventures in Babysitting a great movie to sit down with the kids for a movie night.  Pop some popcorn, get some drinks and enjoy this great movie.

Sofia Carson (Descendants) and Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) star in a hilarious, action-packed tale of two sitters, inspired by the ’80s classic!

Sparks fly when free-spirited Lola and prim, proper Jenny learn they’re up for the same internship. But that night, after newbie babysitter Lola breaks “Rule #1; NEVER take your eyes off the kids,” she’s forced to call Jenny – currently on her own gig – to help track down Trey, who has snuck out. Now with all their young charges in tow, these rivals must team up and brave the big city on the wildest, wackiest adventure of their lives!

The DVD includes Never Before Seen Bloopers and a Free Magnetic Photo Frame.

Available to own.

Oreck® Airvantage HEPA Air Purifier

Oreck Air Vantage HEPA Air Purifier

I have a love/hate with spring and summer. The reason for that is allergy season. My son and I both have seasonal allergies but Spencer has them worse. He is allergic to dust, pollen, feathers and grass. So that is why I have a love/hate relationship with spring and summer. I love being able to go out and not freeze or worry about snow. But I hate dealing with the allergy season for myself or my son. I hate seeing my poor son deal with all these environmental allergies.

The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier changed my feelings about my love/hate reaction to spring and summer.

3-Stage Filteration System

The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier traps allergens, dust and odor with the advanced 3-stage filteration; HEPA, Charcoal odor remover, and VOC filter. If you find you have a lot of dust or have an issue with your house smelling musty. The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier is the purifier you would want in your home to help clean your air.

The HEPA and VOC filter lasts 6 months and the Charcol odor remover
lasts 3 months I love that it traps all the dust, allergens and odor without having to keep changing them. There is also an indicator light that comes on when it is time to change your filter so there is no guessing on when you last put a new filter in. Also a handy remote control so you don’t have to get up to the purifier to turn it on. Very handy if you are in your bedroom and don’t want to get out of your bed to have it running during the night. Another bonus is that it is quiet. So it won’t disturb you while it is running.

Oreck® AirVantage HEPA Air Purifier -review

I ran the Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier for a month at various times when we needed it. Then I decided at the end of the month to it up and check the filter. I was shocked by the dust and pollen in the filter. I could see how it was cleaning my home. I have to say I was very impressed.

The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier also traps odor. My house is old and sometimes when we have been gone away for a weekend without airing out the house, I found that it has an odor that sometimes comes with older homes. The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier gets rid of that quickly and leaves the house smelling fresh. Cleaner air for your whole family to breathe.

The Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier is available at Canadian Tire in August 2016.

Find out about how you can have cleaner floors with the Oreck® Venture Pro Bagged Canister Vacuum. Removing dirt, pollen and allergens from your floors and furniture. Check out my review here.

Check out my video below as I show how easy it is to use the Oreck® AirVantage™ HEPA Air Purifier.

I received the Oreck® AirVantage™  HEPA Air Purifier to try but the opinions are my own.

5 Christmas Breakfast Recipes #Foodie #Christmas #Breakfast #Brunch #Recipes

Christmas morning is coming up fast. And with preparing for the dinner that day, I like to also plan for breakfast that morning. I try to make a recipe that either we have had before or I search online for a new one that the family might like. Usually we have Mike’s mom, brother and our niece for breakfast. But this year is only his mother and us. So I am looking for something new and simple for us to make. I am going to prepare it the night before and then just pop it in while we unwrap gifts.

What do you do for Christmas breakfast/brunch?

Fujifilm X-A2 Review and Giveaway

Fujifilm  X-A2 Review and Giveaway

Fujifilm X-A2

When I was a little girl I loved taking pictures. My dad gave me my grandfather’s camera and I would run all over our small town taking pictures of random things. I would run out of film so quickly and have to save up my allowance for more film. Now as an adult, we don’t have to worry about film anymore since everything has gone digital. Now even the most beginner photographer can learn how to take amazing pictures with the Fujifilm X-A2. The design of the camera has almost a retro look to it. It reminds me of my grandfather’s camera that I first started taking pictures on.

I am someone that likes to take pictures more than actually being in the picture. So for me I like a camera that gives me everything I need at my fingertips.  I am an amateur when it comes to taking pictures. I just like pictures to look like I know what I am doing.

Fujifilm X-A2 Review and Giveaway

The Fujifilm X-A2 includes:

  • Digital Camera X-A2
  • Rechargeable Battery
  • Battery Charger
  • Interchangeable lens 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II

  • Shoulder Strap
  • CD-ROM with application software & owner’s manual

What’s not included is the SD card. You can purchase one of those at any place that you purchase your Fujifilm X-A2.  The SD card is very affordable.

There are so many features on the Fujifilm X-A2 that I enjoy but my favourites are the Red Eye removal (How many pictures have you wished that they didn’t have red eyes in the past?) , the Self Portraits (which was so easy even my kids could do it.) and the Timer Setting. (Now I can be in pictures with my family instead of always just taking pictures.)

Last night we were making Salt Dough Ornaments and then watching Home Alone 2 with some hot chocolate. I figured it would be a great time to capture some of these moments on the Fujifilm X-A2. Since my husband is on the road right now trucking, it helps him to see what we were doing while he was gone and be a part of the memories even though he wasn’t able to be here.

Here was Spencer painting one of his ornaments.  In our house, our lighting isn’t the best for pictures. But with the Fujifilm X-A2, you don’t even notice that our lighting is dull. The pictures of the kids were great. The close ups of their faces were so crisp and clear. We used the flash with the night setting inside and it worked perfectly.

Then we had some fun before the movie started. We used the 10 second timer and took a picture of us before the movie. A quick family picture which we don’t do often enough. (our dog Darby had to get in the picture too!)

Hayley took some selfies with the Fujifilm X-A2. She loved having some fun with it. She’s the Selfie Queen after all.

Today while the kids went to school I took the Fujifilm X-A2 and went around town taking some pictures of the Christmas decorations with the lens hood on using the daylight settings.

I also took a picture of our furbabies:

You can upload your pictures wireless to your smartphone with the Fujifilm camera app. Very simple to do and the app makes it simple. It connected no problem to upload the pictures to my smartphone. This is great if you love to put pictures on your wallpaper on your smartphone.

Fujifilm Photo App

Simply download the App, open it and set the camera to the Playback mode (Where you view the photos you already took.) Then press the fn button on the top and a Wireless Transfer menu will come up on screen. Choose how you want to transfer the images.

Fujifilm Photo App

On your smartphone tap Receive and then Connect. Choose the images you want to transfer, hit OK and it will start to transfer. It’s really is that simple! Then you can add the pictures to your social media accounts or show them to your friends when you are out!
