My son, Spencer, is a BIG Star Wars fan. When I say big, I mean he loves it and you can’t go wrong with Star Wars for him. He has watched all the movies over and over since he was 2.

I want to help him get into the Holiday spirit by doing some crafts with him and Hayley.

This Friday night we are going to put on some Holiday music and try making some Star Wars Snowflakes.

The Seventh Dwarf DVD Review & Giveaway

Growing up I loved fairy tales. I loved reading about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella. I enjoyed how they were so magical and how they over came so much to have their dreams come true.

Now that I have kids, I love that they enjoy fairy tales.

That’s why I was excited for us to review The Seventh Dwarf from Shout! Factory.

THE SEVENTH DWARF, the highly anticipated CG-animated motion picture, is launching digitally, on DVD and via a two-disc Blu-ray 3D combo pack (with a 2D Blu-ray, a DVD and a digital copy), August 18th!

Venture into the wondrous world of Fantabularasa Castle and be spellbound by the exciting adventures of your favorite storybook characters in THE SEVENTH DWARF. With an exceptional voice cast of Peyton List, Norm Macdonald, internationally renowned singer and actress Nina Hagen and newcomer Joshua Graham, this new feature film is a hilarious mash-up of the best classic fairytales, packed with beloved storybook characters,  non-stop laughs and toe-tapping songs!  Directed by Harald Siepermann (Tarzan, Enchanted) and Boris Aljinovic, THE SEVENTH DWARF is a wonderfully magical movie adventure for the whole family.

SYNOPSIS:

Join all seven dwarfs for an adventure as big as they are small! It’s the eve of Princess Rose’s 18th birthday. Everyone in the kingdom has come to Fantabularasa Castle to celebrate including Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. But just before the stroke of midnight Bobo, the youngest dwarf, accidentally pricks the finger of Princess Rose (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty) with a cursed needle and sends the kingdom into a century-long slumber! To find Rose’s true love Jack to save her with a kiss, Bobo and the other six dwarfs must go on a treacherous journey, face a fiery dragon and outwit the jealous, scheming and evil witch, Dellamorta!

Both of my kids, Hayley and Spencer watched this movie with me

The best part was the whole family can enjoy this movie. It is like bringing back my childhood while bringing new life to the characters we all loved in our favourite fairy tales.

The Seventh Dwarf has lots of laughs and excitement.

If you enjoy the songs, there is a sing-along feature after the movie. Also Character Profiles and Downloadable Royal Birthday Invitations so you can have your own Royal party for your Prince or Princess.

After the movie Spencer couldn’t stop talking about his favourite parts of The Seventh Dwarf. I think this is going to be a new favourite for him. I love that it isn’t just geared to girls but boys too with a winged dragon and dwarfs. Sometimes the old fairy tales were more for little girls than boys. This allows the whole family to enjoy this movie.

Spencer gives this movie “Two Thumbs up!”

Bird Ornaments ~ Family Craft

It is always fun to do various crafts with the kids!

Here is a simple craft that you can do and either keep for yourselves or give it to the nature lovers in your family.

You’ll need:

  • 3/4 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin

  • 3 tbsp. corn syrup

  • 4 cups birdseed

  • Cooking spray

  • A straw

  • string or ribbon

valentine's day kids crafts (10)

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, water, gelatin and corn syrup.

  2. Add birdseed to the mixture and stir in well.

  3. Spray the mold with cooking spray and fill with bird seed mixture. Level it in the mold.

  4. Cut the straw into 2” segments.  Use the straw to punch a hole into the mixture.  Make sure the hole goes all of the way through and leave the straw in the ornament, so that the mixture will dry around the hole.  This is where you will tie your ribbon to hang the ornament.

  5. Leave the molds to dry for 2-3 hours.  Then, gently remove the molds and straws.

  6. Leave the ornaments to cure overnight.

  7. Tie the string through the hole in the ornaments and you’re done. (it is really difficult to do this part while still wet so best to do this last)
