It is hard coming up with something for a classroom treat for holidays or for a child’s party. My son, Spencer loves taking something for his friends at school.
This treat isn’t healthy but it is easy to make and your kids will love it!
First you will need a glue gun, glue sticks (both I purchased at the dollar store.), mini Hershey chocolate bars, Tootsie rolls, chocolate coins and juice boxes.
You can also change it up. If you want instead of Tootsie Rolls, try a chocolate that is small like one to use for the front fender. You can choose a different small chocolate bar too. The sky is the limit on how you design yours. Choose a juice box that is your child’s favourite.
I found mints in a wrapper didn’t give the same effect as a chocolate coin did for the wheel look. And the Hershey chocolate bar did look like it was a wing with the side flaps of the package.
Figure out how many cars that you wish to make and decide on the amount of items you need. For one car you need one Hershey chocolate bar, one Tootsie roll , four chocolate coins and one juice box.
Just put a dab of glue on each coin and apply it to the juice box sides. Then put glue on the Tootsie roll and place it where the front of the car is located. Lastly put glue on the bottom of the Hershey chocolate bar and place it on the top back area of the race car.
It is that simple. And your kids will love the race cars for themselves and their friends!
Let me know if you make this for your child’s class or birthday parties in the comments below. I love hearing about how the kids enjoyed them.
Adventures In Babysitting || Feature Running Time: Approx. 94 minutes || Starring: Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson || Disney DVD
Adventures in Babysitting a great movie to sit down with the kids for a movie night. Pop some popcorn, get some drinks and enjoy this great movie.
Sofia Carson (Descendants) and Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) star in a hilarious, action-packed tale of two sitters, inspired by the ’80s classic!
Sparks fly when free-spirited Lola and prim, proper Jenny learn they’re up for the same internship. But that night, after newbie babysitter Lola breaks “Rule #1; NEVER take your eyes off the kids,” she’s forced to call Jenny – currently on her own gig – to help track down Trey, who has snuck out. Now with all their young charges in tow, these rivals must team up and brave the big city on the wildest, wackiest adventure of their lives!
The DVD includes Never Before Seen Bloopers and a Free Magnetic Photo Frame.
Mike, the kids and I love to geocache. It allows us a time to get out and do some “hunting” to find a small box to locate treasure.
Geocaching is easy to do and is a great low cost way of spending some time with the family.
I signed up on Geocaching.com and set up an account for us to keep track of our geocaches.
Next, I purchased some few small trinkets from the dollar store. I usually grab some small army men. You need small items because when you find a geocache location, sometimes you take an item out and put one in. So I try to have small army men on hand. When you locate the geocache you also put your name of your group in there. Then on the geocache app mark it as found. Not all geocache locations require a prize drop off.
We also use a GPS from the car or our phone. On the geocache comments, sometimes there is little hints to tell you where it may be too. We found one from reading it and figuring out the clues. The GPS doesn’t give you the exact location just the area that you may find it. We have some that were hard and took us a bit to find them. But that’s what makes it fun, it is like searching for treasure. Once we find it we are excited to go onto the next one.
I recommend starting with the easy ones first so you can get to know how the app works and how you can locate the geocache. We made the mistake of after a few easy we went hard and we couldn’t find it. So we went back to the easy to get use to the “clues” and using the GPS.
Make sure you also bring bug spray, sun screen, a hat, pencil and a camera. If you are going to be out for awhile, pack a picnic lunch or make sure you have some treats. If you want to bring your dog with you while you are going, be sure to have a bowl and a water bottle for them.
There are geocaches all over the world. More than 2.5 million geocaches are waiting to be found in over 180 countries. It is a great way to discover the area around you. When we head out east this summer for our family vacation, we plan on doing some geocaching out there. What a great way to discover Canada through different means than the traditional way of hitting tourist spots.
Comment below and tell me if you have ever gone geocaching or are you planning to in the future?
Mini Rolo Cookies – These are a favourite in my house. When you bite into the cookie, it has a caramel centre that is great. I like to heat them up for a few seconds in the microwave if they aren’t fresh.
My son loves dart blasting toys. Over the years we have purchased many of them. He is the expert when it comes to dart blasting toys.
Spencer playing with the Air Warriors Ultra-Tek Gem (2 pack). He loved the smaller dart blasters and you can give one to a friend to play with. (even was his cast he was able to use the dart blasters to play which made him happy because there wasn’t a lot of his toys he could play with when his “good hand” was in a cast.)
Both Hayley and Spencer went out and played with the Air Warriors Ultra-Tek dart blaster toys. They made their own score board on put it on the kitchen screen door where the glass was. You could make one easily using Microsoft Paint and print it and you are good to go. Make a fun game and add some small prizes even. A great time for even Mom and Dad to get involved with. Hayley made the video while Spencer aiming for the score board.
Ultra-Tek Gem 2 Pack is great for when you want to play with a friend or using both for yourself. It is a smaller dart blaster that is a 3 shooter. You work it by pulling the back pull and then pulling the trigger to have the darts go one at a time.
Ultra-Tek Brute blasts darts up to 20 feet through a motorized clip. All Ultra-Tek clips are interchangeable. A great toy for children 6 and up. Spencer loved how he hold more darts at one time with this dart blasting toy. Shooting the darts up to 72 feet was great fun for him. He would stand at the end of our street to see how far they would go each time.
Ultra-Tek Snipe is also a clip fed dart blasting toy but you pump the side and then shoot, so you aren’t required to have batteries to use it. Which is good because sometimes on Christmas morning, I never purchase enough batteries. The Ultra-Tek Snipe comes with a scope which is detachable and so is the barrel. Includes and 8 dart clip and comes with 10 suction darts. Spencer loved this when using the scoring board because he could look through the scope to find where to shoot at the target.
Ultra-Tek Sidewinder is a really interesting dart blasting toy because it has rapid automatic barrel. Holds 30 long-distance darts. This dart blaster doesn’t require batteries either. Spencer enjoyed it because it was nothing he has seen before in any of his dart blasting toys. It is a good thing that we have a large yard that he could shoot his darts all over with his friends and recover them. The Ultra-Tek Sidewinder was Spencer’s favourite. (even though he said he loved them all this was the one he kept going back to play with.)
Air Max Boss comes with 3 large foam darts and a clip. It is great that the Air Max Boss darts still goes up to 80 feet even though it is a smaller body than some of the others we reviewed in this post. It has a futuristic design to it that Spencer liked. He is into Sci-Fi shows so this was a fun dart blaster for him to use. This dart blaster also has a front grip to hold it.
The best part of the Air Warriors dart blasters for me as a parent? The price. You will not break the bank with these gifts and you will make your children happy seeing them under the tree on Christmas Morning. The other best part about these dart blasters? Gives your children an excuse to go outside and play. It doesn’t matter if it is warm or cold out. It is fun anytime! If they are playing in the snow they won’t lose their darts. But if they do, you can purchase replaceable darts for them.
After the review he took all the dart blasters over to his friend’s house to play with his friends in the area. He had a great time.
Follow directions on the cake mix box to make cupcakes. Let them cool. Ice them with vanilla icing. Put Reese’s pieces in the middle of cupcake. Use piping gel to make lines in the cupcake.
What you will need:
Ritz crackers (or any round crackers)
peanut butter or wow butter
chow mein noodles
Smear a small amount of peanut butter onto the inside of one cracker. Place 4 chow mein noodles on one side of the cracker followed by 4 more on the other side. Place the remaining cracker on top. To make the ‘eyes’: dab two spots of peanut butter near the top of one crackers to ‘glue’ the raisins into place.
What you will need:
1 Tube of refrigerated pizza dough
10 cheese strings
2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 tablespoon of salt (you can skip this if you want)
1 cup marinara sauce (heated)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Open pizza crust and cut in half width-wise, then slice into 10 rectangles.Roll one string cheese stick in the center of each rectangle. Press the dough to secure it closed around the cheese. Create the ends of the “bones” by rolling the extra dough until it reaches the top of the string cheese stick. Press it to form two knobs at the top and bottom. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and repeat until all string cheese is wrapped in dough. Brush butter over the sticks with a basting brush.Sprinkle with salt. (optional) Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving with marinara for dipping!
